Project Summary

The objective of this bilateral research project is to evaluate the feasibility of several passive mode-locking techniques, especially the nonlinear mirror scheme with intracavity second-harmonic generation crystal, for realization of this regime for the first time in crystalline Tm-lasers in order to obtain high average power trains of short pulses in the 2-micron spectral range. The work will be carried out in close collaboration between the two teams, which have complementary aims, experience, skills, and available equipment.
